Earlier this year I had some client inquiries regarding Drupal's Organic Groups. I wasn't familiar with OG at the time so I started to investigate. The documentation was not exactly abundant or clear so I decided to figure it out on my own. I documented what I found in preparation for my clients to decide if they wanted to use groups.
My normal practice when investigating is to:
- investigate the module's issue log on drupal.org
- look at the support history
- determine if it sustainable
- download and install the module
- work with it, practice using it, explore its features
- search for documentation and videos
- create my own documentation
- make a decision
Groups.IDCMInnovations.com was the site I created to learn about organic groups, document what I learn, and demonstrate its features to others. It is a work in progress. I have since merged the organic groups blogs into this site. Start here with Setting up Drupal Organic Groups. Additional blogs are attached at the bottom.
